Alibaba has tied its new in-house AI accelerator to a plan for more than 20 gigawatts of global cloud capacity by 2032.
- The company unveiled T-Head’s Zhenwu V900 in Hangzhou and says mass production and commercial release are scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
- Alibaba says the V900 offers three times the performance of the M890.
- CEO Eddie Wu said the chips can be deployed in clusters of up to 500,000 units for frontier-model training. The company says Qwen 4 is in training, with Qwen 4.5 and Qwen 5 planned.

- The company says the model is available through Cursor, Grok Build, the Grok API, third-party coding tools, model routers and cloud platforms.
Newsom signs California’s seven-bill data center oversight package
California Governor Gavin Newsom signed seven bills imposing new oversight on data centers, Reuters reports.
- The package requires disclosures about electricity, water, land use and workforce needs to help communities assess proposed projects. It also aims to prevent related grid costs from being shifted to other ratepayers.
- The Data Center Coalition warned the requirements could push projects and jobs to neighboring states.
First Googlebooks require Android 17 for key phone features
The first five Googlebooks run Google’s Android-based laptop OS, with models from Lenovo, Dell, HP, Acer and Asus, The Verge reports.
- The cheapest model is listed at $899 for a limited time. Google says the laptops integrate notifications, files and other phone data.
